South Korean shares closed at their lowest level in more than six months Tuesday as chip stocks weakened amid concerns about the global artificial intelligence investment boom. The slide puts Asian technology shares and broader risk appetite in focus, extending the market signal beyond the KOSPI itself. South Korea’s benchmark KOSPI fell 215.27 points, or 3.73%, to 5,552.74. The close was its lowest since April 7. The decline came after two consecutive sessions of gains, halting the brief rebound. Concerns about credit and profitability linked to AI investment have not fully faded, raising questions about the rebound’s durability.
