South Korea’s KOSPI climbed 4.7% and crossed 5,800 during Wednesday’s session, extending a sharp rise in the country’s equity market before the index gave back part of its gain. The index finished the day 3.29% higher. That closing gain was 1.41 percentage points below the 4.7% intraday reading. The move through 5,800 was a point reached during trading, while the smaller percentage gain describes where the session ended.
