Solana is seeking more institutional use for stablecoins and tokenized assets as its share of onchain perpetual-contract trading volume falls, adding pressure to its effort to broaden growth beyond meme-coin speculation. The network is pursuing more mainstream financial applications. JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Standard Chartered, along with payments firms Visa and Fiserv, already have business activity on Solana. Solana (SOL) has fallen nearly 20% this year. U.S.-listed spot and staking Solana ETFs recorded about $50 million in combined outflows over two consecutive weeks in October. Solana’s share of onchain perpetual-contract trading volume dropped from 17% to 6%.
