The Alpenglow mainnet upgrade of the Solana blockchain is scheduled for activation on October 21, according to a report by SolanaFloor. This upgrade is expected to significantly improve transaction finality on the network, reducing the time from approximately 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds. The upgrade aims to enhance the system’s resilience and cost efficiency, although it will not alter the existing transaction execution or fee structures. As of October 13, Solana’s market value was observed to be in the range of $107 to $108, reflecting a decline of about 4-5% over the previous 24 hours.
