Solana Activates Alpenglow Feature Gate on Mainnet at Epoch 1064

Solana’s Alpenglow feature gate is active on mainnet, marking a step in the consensus migration that removes validator votes from blocks and changes how the network’s transaction throughput is counted. The gate activates at the start of epoch 1064. The migration plan places the consensus handoff about 5,000 slots later. Gate activation and the change in consensus are separate events. A lower transactions-per-second (TPS) figure after the handoff would not, by itself, mean users submitted fewer transactions. Votor targets finality of about 150 milliseconds, compared with roughly 12.8 seconds under TowerBFT.
