Shopify, Coinbase team up for stablecoin payments on Base platform

Shopify and Coinbase have announced a joint effort to create the Commerce Payments Protocol, which will operate on the Base platform for stablecoin payments. This initiative aims to streamline the acceptance of stablecoins, such as USDC , for merchants using Shopify Payments. The protocol facilitates transactions by allowing customers to pay from supported wallets without needing ETH for gas fees, while merchants can opt to receive payments in local currency or USDC. This development marks a significant step in integrating cryptocurrency into mainstream commerce and is expected to enhance the utility of the Base platform.
