The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Japan’s Financial Services Agency held their Autumn Financial Regulatory Dialogue in Tokyo on Oct. 19, 2026, continuing a long-running forum focused on securities-market oversight, cooperation and investor protection, according to the SEC’s Oct. 20, 2026 release and the FSA’s Oct. 20, 2026 announcement. The SEC said the dialogue builds on longstanding efforts between the two regulators, while the FSA’s background account places the origins of the framework in 2005, with the agencies later adopting formal Terms of Reference on Jan. 27, 2006.
