Scroll has proposed converting its Ethereum Layer 2 network into a permissioned system for privacy-focused artificial intelligence applications and moving its SCR token to Ethereum mainnet. The proposal was posted to Scroll’s governance forum on Nov. 3. It would change the network from a permissionless, general-purpose Layer 2 into a dedicated network. Scroll said it plans to center future network demand on AI products Compass, CENO and USX. Scroll said demand for a general-purpose network has been difficult to sustain while its underlying infrastructure still requires maintenance. The network transition and token migration remain proposed, not completed.
