SBI DigiTrust, NICE and DSRV Study Japan-Korea Stablecoin Payments

SBI DigiTrust, NICE Information & Telecommunication and DSRV are examining stablecoin-based payments and remittances between Japan and South Korea, with verification scheduled for completion by the end of December 2026. The feasibility project would examine whether Japanese visitors could pay Korean merchants by scanning QR codes. The merchants would be within NICE’s approximately 1.2 million-merchant network, although the project does not establish that every merchant will participate. The current study is evaluating how stablecoin funds could move from Japanese users to Korean merchants while connecting blockchain infrastructure with existing payment systems.
