S&P completes first on-chain OTC swap with Canton Network, Ripple enables custody

S&P Dow Jones Indices has executed its first over-the-counter (OTC) total return swap using the Canton Network, marking a significant step toward digitizing traditional finance (TradFi) infrastructure with blockchain technology. The trade involved moving the swap contract onto a distributed ledger, streamlining processes previously managed manually. Canton Network, a permissioned blockchain platform designed for institutional finance, aims to become the central infrastructure for traditional capital markets. While Polygon fills this role in the public Web3 sector, Canton is developing closed, configurable channels that allow financial institutions to digitize workflows while keeping operations private and secure.
