Ripple has enabled Water.org, a nonprofit co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, to reduce cross-border payment fees by as much as 66%, providing new evidence of how blockchain technology is extending beyond cryptocurrency speculation into global humanitarian finance. In its latest financial operations, Water.org moved more than $3.2 million across four markets using Ripple Payments, the company’s blockchain-based payment solution. Through this system, settlement times for transfers to Mexico and Brazil have improved significantly, falling from the typical two or three-day timeframe to same-day processing.
