David Schwartz, Ripple CTO Emeritus, warned against the implementation of total algorithmic content filters, stating that attempts to create a “safe vacuum” will destroy freedom of speech and paralyze the collective defense of the internet community. Schwartz, identified as one of the main architects of the XRP Ledger, intervened in a dispute sparked by a major lawsuit filed by the state of Rhode Island against Meta Platforms. The legal action has caused a split in Silicon Valley regarding the responsibility of platforms for the actions of scammers. Schwartz argued that isolating experts from spam creates a dangerous information vacuum.
