Economists and AI researchers are betting that smart incentives, not just better code inspection, can keep powerful models honest AI safety researchers have a new idea for keeping powerful models in line: stop only trying to read their minds and start rigging the rules so that good behavior is the smartest move. The approach is called reverse game theory. The goal is to build incentive structures where following the rules becomes the most rational choice for an AI agent, even one clever enough to consider breaking them.
