Quebec Maple Syrup Reserve Is Expected to Run Dry by February

The Quebec Maple Syrup Producers expects Quebec’s maple syrup reserve to be depleted by February, leaving less stored supply to cushion weather-related changes in output while production continues. The reserve is held in three Quebec warehouses with capacity for about 218,000 barrels. Weather has a strong effect on maple syrup output, and the stockpile helps offset changes in production. Once it is depleted, that stored supply will no longer be available for that purpose. Canadian syrup exports climbed nearly 16% in 2025 as U.S. buyers sought supplies ahead of anticipated tariffs. That followed 9% export growth in 2024.
