Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan reimbursed the prediction market after charges for apartment rent, private jet flights and other expenses drew scrutiny during Founders Fund’s 2025 investment review. Polymarket had not generated revenue when the charges were incurred. Founders Fund wanted tighter financial controls before investing, and Coplan repaid the company. Coplan founded Polymarket in 2020. Polymarket said the flights were business travel and that Coplan had disclosed the expenses to investors. Dragonfly Managing Partner Haseeb Qureshi, an early investor, rejected the suggestion that outside investors uncovered concealed spending.
