Polygon Labs adds budget and time limits for agent payments in Open Money Stack

Polygon Labs has introduced new controls for automated agent payments in its Open Money Stack, establishing limits on budgets, actions, and time frames. The update is intended to let software agents handle certain payments—such as API access or computing resources—without requiring repeated human approval for every minor transaction. Announced on October 21, the payment controls allow applications to authorize defined payment tasks while restricting agents to designated stablecoin budgets, preset actions, and expiration times. This means businesses can specify what an agent may purchase, the maximum amount it can spend, and how long the authority remains valid.
