Pichai Expects Gemini 5.0 to Be Much Better Than Gemini 4 Argon

In an Oct. 21 interview, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai said he expects Gemini 5.0 to be much better than Gemini 4 Argon, without giving a release date or performance benchmarks. Pichai based the forecast on research advances and Google’s internal model evaluations. He did not disclose benchmark results or a computing budget dedicated to Gemini 5.0. Separately, Pichai described the signals behind Google’s broader computing plans. They include research progress, internal assessments of model capabilities, consumer and enterprise demand, and long-term contracts with committed revenue. He did not disclose the value or duration of those contracts.
