Pacific Gas and Electric Company announced Friday, Oct. 30, that its emergency management program had earned accreditation from the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP) after a five-year effort. PG&E described the distinction as a first worldwide for an energy utility. EMAP’s directory lists PG&E as an accredited private-sector program for 2026. PG&E said its program met all 73 voluntary standards, with assessors identifying no nonconformances. The standards cover risk assessment, incident management, resource coordination, communications, training and exercises. EMAP’s private-sector directory also lists Amtrak, DC Water & Sewer Authority and Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.
