OpenAI’s 2024 250 Million ChatGPT Figure Counted Overall Use

OpenAI’s Oct. 2, 2024, figure of more than 250 million weekly ChatGPT users measured use of the service overall. It did not measure Voice and Dictation use specifically. OpenAI put weekly use of ChatGPT features including Voice and Dictation above 150 million in a July 8, 2026, figure. The count combined the features and gave no separate total for either one. Later figures put ChatGPT’s overall weekly audience at 1.2 billion in September and October 2026, a measure covering the service as a whole. Voice lets people speak with ChatGPT and hear spoken replies.
