OpenAI, Anthropic unveil cheaper AI models, cutting costs by up

OpenAI and Anthropic have announced the release of more affordable AI models, which could significantly lower customer costs and potentially impact the sales of their higher-priced models. This development comes as both companies aim to broaden their AI model offerings across different price tiers. OpenAI’s new models, GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, offer a 50% reduction in API prices compared to their predecessors. Similarly, Anthropic’s new Claude models, including Claude Opus 5.5, are positioned to offer up to a 40% cost saving on typical workloads compared to previous versions.
