Nvidia employees pay for subsidized cafeteria meals rather than receiving free food, even as the chipmaker’s estimated market value reached $5.769 trillion on Oct. 5. The company subsidizes cafeteria food, but workers still pay for meals and some drinks. Coffee is generally free, while bottled beverages and drinks from on-site cafés may cost extra. Available food options have included bagels, sushi, açai bowls, sandwiches, omelettes, butter chicken, ramen, pizza and salad. In 2014, the average meal cost about $6, equivalent to roughly $8.50 today.
