Nvidia commits $250 million in compute to UK AI agent safety research

The five-year pledge routes computing power to Oxford, UCL and Imperial College London through UK-based cloud partners Nvidia is putting $250 million in computing resources toward UK research on the safety and security of AI agents, spread over five years. The pledge, announced on October 13, 2026, works out to $50 million per year. It targets one specific corner of AI: autonomous, goal-oriented systems that can act on their own rather than just answer questions. The commitment is compute, not a cash grant. Researchers get access to processing power rather than direct funding.
