The Nuclear Regulatory Commission accepted General Matter’s license application for a proposed uranium enrichment facility in Paducah, Kentucky, on Oct. 29, and estimates its review will be completed in April 2028. General Matter had requested an accelerated 12-month review. NRC staff declined to commit to a faster schedule, citing “the anticipated increase in the workload and associated resource constraints.” The agency’s acceptance review took about half the time typically allotted for that stage. The April 2028 date is the NRC’s current estimate.
