New York City Comptroller Mark Levine is urging Anthropic to address concerns about AI safety, governance and the pace of model development before pursuing a public listing. In a Wednesday letter to CEO Dario Amodei, Levine requested details about the audits and controls Anthropic would use, the risks they would cover and when the company expects to put them in place. He also asked whether the safeguards would address Amodei’s earlier call to slow the development of AI capabilities. Levine oversees public pension funds with more than $325 billion in assets.
