More than 60 Bitcoin (BTC), worth about $4.8 million, was stolen Oct. 9 from three Ledger-associated addresses that Chainalysis linked to a suspected task-scam operator. The addresses received the BTC on Sept. 22 before their balances were sent to a single wallet. Chainalysis linked the funds to a task scam involving fake sales and product reviews. Participants were shown a supposed negative balance and asked to deposit money to cover it. Ledger’s disclosure concerned a separate hardware-implant incident . Ledger attributed the tampering to a criminal group that added concealed components to genuine devices after the units left its control.
