Microsoft Winds Down The Garage as a Centralized Program

Microsoft is winding down The Garage as a centralized employee program, while changes to its physical spaces will vary by location and some could be restricted as early as Friday, Oct. 23. The company has not identified which locations may be affected. The change ends The Garage’s centralized function, but the timing and scope of site-level changes will differ. The Garage has given employees a year-round place to experiment, learn and collaborate across teams. Its activities have included maker spaces and Microsoft’s companywide, multiday Global Hackathon. The hackathon’s team is reimagining the program and plans to share more later.
