The Japanese Bitcoin treasury firm is turning to a Euro-Yen convertible bond to cut leverage and support its stock. Metaplanet, the Tokyo-listed company known for stacking Bitcoin on its balance sheet, is moving to raise fresh capital. Reports put the figure at either $340 million or $328 million, with the discrepancy likely reflecting currency conversion timing or rounding across different reporting windows. The proceeds are earmarked for two purposes. First, Metaplanet intends to repay loans that were backed by its Bitcoin holdings. Second, the company plans to use a portion of the funds to buy back its own shares.
