Meta and OpenAI are positioning their AI agents for different primary customers while expanding into overlapping use cases, with Muse aimed first at everyday consumers and Dots focused on professional and organizational work. Meta introduced Muse on Sept. 8 as a personal agent that can send email, book travel, fill out forms and negotiate on a user’s behalf. The service operates through a dedicated cloud virtual machine with its own browser and can continue working after the app is closed. Muse can request approval before sensitive actions, including sending email or making a purchase.
