Senior representatives from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan met Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday as mediators pressed for a five-day U.S.-Iran arrangement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. The five-day proposal would have Iran allow commercial vessels through the strait while the United States lifts its blockade. Qatar’s mediators are pressing for both sides to make a series of concessions over five days. The main obstacle is timing: negotiators have not settled when each side would act.
