Itaú builds generative AI for customers and staff with ia.i and IARA

Itaú is broadening its use of generative AI across both customers and employees, centering the effort on a conversational interface called ia.i and a governance platform named IARA, according to material published by OpenAI on 16 Oct. 2026. The initiative sits within the bank’s stated AI First strategy and is being deployed in one of Brazil’s most heavily regulated sectors. OpenAI’s account says ia.i serves as a conversational interface for Itaú’s AI deployment, while IARA is designed to provide governance over the system.
