Iran Says It Is Reviewing U.S. Comments on Hormuz Proposal

Tehran is still reviewing U.S. comments on its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and resume negotiations, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Oct. 18, leaving the initiative conditional on Washington accepting Iran’s terms. “Our proposal is still on the table,” Araghchi said. The plan describes a staged sequence: the strait would reopen on day six, with negotiations resuming on day seven. That puts the proposed return to talks one day after maritime access is restored. Iran’s conditions include lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports, easing sanctions on Iranian oil exports and ending hostilities across regional fronts.
