Huizenga Trails in House Race, Clouding Crypto Panel's Future

Rep. Bill Huizenga’s election-night deficit is adding uncertainty to the future of the House Financial Services Committee’s digital assets panel, after its chair also lost his seat. Huizenga, a Republican and the committee’s vice chair, trailed Democrat Sean McCann by more than 7,000 votes, with about 95% of ballots counted. The district had not declared a winner, so Huizenga’s deficit did not settle the race. Huizenga serves on the committee’s Digital Assets Subcommittee. Its chair, Rep. Bryan Steil, also lost his seat, putting the panel’s leadership and membership in question as a new Congress approaches.
