Grupo México decided on Oct. 21 not to proceed with a bid in Argentina’s national and international tender for the Belgrano Cargas freight rail network. The decision came before the Nov. 11 offer deadline, so the company is not withdrawing a bid it had already submitted. The tender would place three rail corridors under 50-year concessions. The tender covers 7,594 kilometers of track across 16 provinces. Its three lines are General Belgrano, General San Martín and General Urquiza. The concessions also cover adjacent property, and the tender gives the future operators the option to purchase rolling stock.
