Google's MPC Custody System Splits Signing Control Across Providers

The planned service would give banks and other financial institutions a way to secure crypto and tokenized assets. Alphabet already uses the service to protect its digital assets on Ethereum and Solana. Google also plans to demonstrate the product at New York’s first Digital Asset Symposium. Google’s custody service uses multi-party computation, which divides control of transaction signing among separate systems. Private-key shares are stored across Google Cloud, an institution’s own hardware and other cloud providers. This setup distributes signing authority instead of keeping the full key in one place.
