Goldman Sachs has tracked four decades of Americans who lost their jobs to technology. The first workers laid off from AI-exposed jobs are starting to look a lot like them, the investment bank wrote in a note published Thursday. Goldman economist Pierfrancesco Mei found that workers displaced from AI-exposed jobs since 2025 took about a month longer to find a new job than other displaced workers. They were also roughly 10 percentage points more likely to still be unemployed a year after losing their job.
