General Motors plans to add hybrids in several vehicle segments it serves, as U.S. regular gasoline averages more than $4 a gallon and Toyota's electrified vehicle sales rise 28.5%. General Motors Chair and CEO Mary Barra outlined the plan on Oct. 20. “We will have hybrids,” she told analysts. Barra said hybrids were already included in GM's plans and would require no additional capital spending or engineering. The company has not named the models or given a launch schedule. Barra said the current hybrid market is concentrated in compact and midsize cars and minivans, segments GM does not serve.
