Glamsterdam Gas Audit: Ethereum Asks Auditors to Test Eight Broken Invariants

Writing one new storage slot on Ethereum costs 22,100 gas today. Under the schedule bundled into Glamsterdam it will cost 110,020, and the Ethereum Foundation’s protocol team has opened a public repository, last updated on 6 November 2026, asking auditors to hunt that difference through every client contract they have reviewed. The repository lists eight invariants that EIP-8037 and EIP-8038 break, each with the price that changes, the code pattern that fails, and a suggested fix. These are measured numbers, not projections.
