GitHub used its Universe 2026 conference on Oct. 28 to present a broader plan for how software work is organized, saying developers are moving from writing code line by line to orchestrating AI assistants and fleets of agents. In a post published the same day, GitHub said its goal is to become "the most comprehensive software delivery system in the world," with completed work, not more code, as the main output. In the announcement, GitHub described an "agentic software delivery system" built around three priorities: velocity, intelligence and quality.
