France recorded 47 crypto-related kidnappings and attempted kidnappings in the first four months of 2026, adding a narrower measure to a broader count of crypto-linked crimes. The 47-case figure covers kidnappings and attempts. A distinct, broader count recorded 90 cases from Jan. 1 to mid-August, including kidnappings, abductions, extortion, threats and violent theft. The broader 90-case tally worked out to about one case every 2.5 days. France began recording those wider categories in 2026, leaving no comparable total for 2025.
