Florida voters will decide Tuesday, Nov. 3, whether to expand property-tax breaks for homeowners, with the proposal carrying a forecast of $11.8347 billion in annual local revenue losses if it passes. Amendment 3 would let qualifying homeowners exempt up to $150,000 of their home's assessed value from non-school property taxes starting Jan. 1, 2027. The exemption would rise to $250,000 on Jan. 1, 2028, with inflation adjustments starting in 2029. It reduces the value subject to tax; it does not promise an equivalent cash reduction in a homeowner's bill. School district levies are treated separately.
