EU to Cap Cash Payments for Goods and Services at €10,000 in 2027

The European Union will cap cash payments for goods and services involving professional sellers or service providers at €10,000 starting July 10, 2027, under a bloc-wide anti-money-laundering rule. The regulation, adopted in 2024, bars covered cash payments above €10,000, or the equivalent in another currency. A payment of exactly €10,000 remains within the EU ceiling, though a member state may impose a lower limit. Several payments that appear linked count together. Splitting a covered purchase into smaller cash installments therefore does not avoid the limit.
