Ethereum’s staked supply reached 43.8 million ETH in Q3 2026, while gross annualized yield declined to 2.63%, according to Bitwise. An original ETHNews cost model shows how electricity, hardware depreciation and ETH prices affect the break-even point between self-hosting and a 10% reward-fee service. Ethereum’s EIP-7251 changes validator economics for larger operators, but consolidation introduces withdrawal and key-management trade-offs.
