Ethereum Exchange Reserves Are Draining While Spot Volume Halves — Is Demand the Problem?

Ethereum’s on-chain picture has split in two: coins are leaving exchanges while trading activity collapses. Binance’s ETH reserves fell 430,000 ether between August 25 and October 16, from 3.90 million to 3.47 million, an 11% drop worth about $1.05 billion at the $2,437 reference price cited in CryptoQuant contributor Amr Taha’s analysis . Over the same stretch, the seven-day average spot volume across major exchanges fell from $6.73 billion to $3.125 billion, a 53.6% decline. Falling exchange reserves are usually read as accumulation, with supply moving to self-custody and long-term holders.
