Ethereum Developers Delay Hoodi Upgrade Over EIP-8037 Risks

Ethereum core developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade on the Hoodi testnet after EIP-8037 raised compatibility and security concerns for smart contracts, delaying a test of the protocol change. Reported problems center on how contracts handle gas during transaction execution. Remaining gas may increase in some cases, causing gas-counting logic to underflow and revert a transaction, or activate a code path that should not run while making the transaction appear successful. Some contracts may also underestimate gas use because they do not correctly calculate consumption during a call.
