Ethereum could verify complex cryptography without carrying every original signature or proof inside its blocks under an Ethereum cryptography proposal backed by Vitalik Buterin on October 19, 2026. EIP-8288 would move much of that work outside the network’s main execution process, combining proofs before block inclusion rather than repeatedly adding specialized verification functions. Key takeaways EIP-8288 would aggregate cryptographic proofs while transactions await block inclusion. The draft accommodates hash-based and lattice-based quantum-resistant signatures. Mainnet deployment requires approval and a coordinated network upgrade.
