Eka Robotics announced a $150 million Series A on Oct. 20, led by Andreessen Horowitz and F-Prime, to expand a robot-control model designed to help machines respond to physical contact as they handle objects. The company plans to use the funding to develop its manipulation model and increase customer deployments. Eka calls the model Vision-Force-Action (VFA), combining visual information with force feedback as a robot grips or moves an object. Robots can struggle when objects slip, deform or make unexpected contact.
