Dropbox agreed Thursday, Nov. 5, to acquire cloud storage company Tigris Data for $350 million, adding infrastructure for artificial intelligence workloads as it develops a service for businesses and developers building AI models and agents. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. Dropbox plans to use the deal to advance DBX Agent Cloud, whose first offering will be standalone object storage that customers can buy separately. The service is designed to work with tools and applications built for Amazon S3 (Simple Storage Service), Amazon’s cloud system for storing and retrieving large amounts of data.
