Democrats are projected to win 54 seats in the U.S. Senate after prevailing in six of seven closely contested state races, a shift that could alter the chamber’s influence over crypto legislation and oversight. Projected Democratic wins included Texas, Kansas, Ohio, Iowa, Maine and Michigan. The party also captured Senate seats in North Carolina and South Carolina, with seven seats flipped overall. Texas has not elected a Democratic senator since 1988, and Kansas has not done so since 1932. Those two projected wins would end decades-long gaps between Democratic Senate victories in both states.
