Democratic candidate Bob Brooks defeated Republican Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, flipping a House seat and adding to Democrats’ effort to win control of the chamber. Brooks chairs a Pennsylvania firefighters’ union. The district was one of four Republican-held seats in the state that Democrats targeted during this election cycle. Trump carried the district by 3 percentage points in the 2024 presidential election. Democrats are seeking to retake the House and need a net gain of four seats nationwide to take control.
