CVS Health’s Pharmacy & Consumer Wellness segment posted higher adjusted operating income but lower revenue in the third quarter. The results add financial context to the company’s plan to separate its retail pharmacy operations, but do not show how either proposed company would perform on its own. For the quarter ended Sept. 30, the segment reported adjusted operating income of $1.635 billion, up 10.6% from a year earlier. Revenue fell 2% to $35.498 billion. CVS attributed the increase in operating income partly to core pharmacy strength and acquisitions of Rite Aid assets.
